Blonde Blazer
Manager of the SDN Torrance branch. Has several brand deals and films commercials in Europe.
#a2e2fcBlonde Blazer, real name Mandy, is a major supporting character in Dispatch and one of the two protagonists of the "Shellshock" comic. She is a superhero, head of the SDN's Torrance branch, and a potential love interest for Robert Robertson.
Biography
Background
Sometime before Robert Robertson's employment, Blonde Blazer had reformed and redesigned the struggling SDN Torrance branch into its current state, having first arrived at its filthy, rat-infested offices, including the metaphorically 'leaderless' state of its workplace environment.
She also entered into a relationship with Phenomaman.
Pivot
As Robert Robertson is attacked by a group of thieves, Blonde Blazer intervenes to save him and has the thieves arrested by the police. After introducing herself, Blazer snaps Robert's arm back into place and takes him out to Crypto Night for drinks. The two heroes joke, and Blazer reveals that she has a proposition for Robert. Before she can reveal what it is, Robert accidentally takes a sip from Blazer's glass of alcohol and spits it out in shock, getting some of it on her. Robert apologizes, and Blazer leaves to clean up. By the time Blazer comes back, Robert had been kicked out of the bar for fighting with Flambae and finds him in the alley behind the bar.
Deciding to talk somewhere privately, Blonde Blazer flies them over to a billboard with a view of the Hollywood sign. There, she accidentally lets it slip that she knows Robert's real name and asks how he got it. Robert recounts his family's history and that being Mecha Man had driven him to poverty, causing Blazer to empathize with him. Scooting closer to him, she asks Robert if he can take off his mask, to which he agrees. In awe of her, Robert can either kiss Blazer or let the moment pass. Either way, Blazer is flushed and apologizes to Robert for acting unprofessionally, revealing that her true intention was to invite him to join the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) as a dispatcher in exchange for repairing his destroyed Mecha Man suit and that his old friend, Track Star, had recommended him for the position. She then hands him a dispatcher training module to test his abilities. By the time Robert finished the module, he found that Blazer had dozed off and fallen asleep on his shoulder. He nudges her awake, and she tells him to meet her at the SDN offices tomorrow before flying off, leaving him alone on the billboard.
Onboard
Picking Robert up from the SDN lobby, Blonde Blazer takes him to a vacant meeting room to get him changed into his new uniform, explaining that although most dispatchers are former heroes, it is company policy to keep those identities secret to avoid accidents. As Robert changes into his uniform, the two talk about their outing last night and the terms of his employment. Cassually throwing his old hero costume aside, Robert accidentally throws it on Invisigal, who attempts to escape, only to run into the door. Blazer introduces them to each other and warns her not to tell anyone else of Robert's identity. Despite Robert's efforts to impress Invisigal, she remains aloof and leaves, with Blazer explaining she is currently at the bottom of the weekly company leaderboard.
Once Robert is dressed, Blazer gives him a tour around the office, introducing him to his new coworkers and the work culture at the SDN. Robert asks for a bathroom break, and Blazer points him in the direction of the toilets, telling him to meet her in the archive room. There, Robert is reunited with Track Stat, now going by Chase, and Blazer is bemused by the morbid sense of humor they share. With the pleasantries out of the way, Robert is shown a series of files regarding the Z-Team before starting his first shift.
At the end of the day, Chase and Robert meet again with Blazer in her office to discuss his performance as a dispatcher, with Chase and Blazer noting his bloody nose, which he may reveal as being the result of Invisigal punching him in the face. Although Blazer and Chase are satisfied with the Z-Team's performance under Robert, Robert himself is not and states that the team can only improve if they are held to a higher standard and if he coaches them directly. Blazer and Chase are convinced and resolve to hold a meeting between Robert and the team next Monday.
Leaving the office with Robert, Blazer tells him that his suit getting fixed is not dependent on him getting the Z-Team to reform. As she is about to tell him something, the pair are approached by Phenomaman, who is revealed to be Blazer's boyfriend and is surprised by Robert's small stature. Blazer informs Phenomaman that what he said was inappropriate, and the hero apologizes, stating that the things he heard from Blazer about Robert made him think he would be taller. He then invites Robert to join him and Blazer in Japan for sushi, though Blazer signals Robert to refuse. If Robert accepts despite Blazer's wishes, she reminds Phenomaman that Robert's body would be crushed under supersonic speeds. Regardless, Phenomaman picks Blazer up in his arms and, after warning Robert to stand back, flies off.
Shellshock
Blonde Blazer and Phenomaman arrive at the sushi restaurant in Japan and are immediately swarmed by fans who take pictures of them, much to her chagrin. Phenomaman fails to notice his date's discomfort and explains that the chef has invited them to taste his new dish so they can offer their endorsement. As Phenomaman eats the uni the chef prepared, Blazer asks where he sees their relationship in five years. He replies that he sees them still doing superhero work and expresses his hope that they remain doing so until they both die, much to her disappointment. She attempts to bring up the possibility of settling down and "be normal" so she can "be Mandy for a bit." Although Phenomaman expresses his fondness for Mandy, he urges Blazer to eat the uni, ending the conversation. Blazer cups Phenomaman's cheeks and thanks him "for helping [her] see the problem" before bidding him goodbye and walking away, ending their relationship and leaving Phenomaman shellshocked.
Turnover
Blonde Blazer fetches Robert and asks him to come to her office, where she reveals that she broke up with Phenomaman and that Robert has to cut one of the Z-Teamers from the Phoenix Program to scare the others into performing better, having already informed the team of this beforehand. The team proceeds to sabotage each other during the shift, forcing Robert to call an emergency meeting to force them to cooperate, which Blazer and Chase attend.
Later in the day, Blazer and the rest of the department overhear Robert work through Invisigal's self-destructive issues and help her catch Lightningstruck, which leads the Z-Team to celebrate her success upon her return to the office. This confuses Robert, who scolds himself as Blazer explains how they came to know. Taking him to her office, Blazer reveals that by busting Lightningstruck, Invisigal is no longer at the bottom of the leaderboard and that he either has to cut Coupé or Sonar.
Restructure
With a spot in the Z-Team being left vacant by the cut hero, Blazer decides that it should be filled by either Waterboy or Phenomaman, who has become depressed and gotten suspended from the downtown Los Angeles branch of the SDN following their breakup, and is sending her edible arrangements made out of melon to win her back.
Having been told by Invisigal to meet Blazer in her office, Robert enters as she is trying on a dress for a gala event she is attending in the evening. After asking for his opinion on her appearance, Blazer informs the dispatcher of Phenomaman's current position and asks him to cheer the depressed hero up and get him to leave the parking lot as he is lying on someone's car, which he dented.
The next day, Blazer walks in on the aftermath of a fight Robert and Flambae had, finding the latter covered in either noodles or a protein shake, depending on what Robert threw on him. Asking the hero to clean up, Blazer is left alone with Robert and asks who he is taking into the Z-Team. During the start of the day's shift, Blazer helps introduce the new hero to the Z-Team.
At the end of the day, Robert receives a text message from Blonde Blazer, asking if he wants to have dinner with her. If he chooses to go to the movies with Invisigal instead, he asks for a rain check, which she agrees on. If he chooses to have dinner with her, Blazer reveals that her powers come from her amulet by depowering into her civilian identity: a shorter brunette named Mandy. The two enjoy their dinner and are amused by the appearance of Waterboy.
Moving Parts
At some point after the failed Proto Pulse test, which landed Robert in the infirmary, Blonde Blazer was invited by Invisigal to a housewarming party at Robert’s apartment, which she would later learn was an excuse to gather the Z-Team and use their connections to find the wear abouts of the Astral Pulse, which was recently found to have survived the explosion that destroyed the Mecha Man suit.
With Robert indisposed, Blazer was forced to act as his substitute and found that she was rusty as a dispatcher, sending Malevola to teach Sunday school. Fortunately, Robert makes a swift recovery and relieves Blazer. Before leaving, Blazer tells Robert she is looking forward to tonight, leaving Robert confused, though she had already left before he could ask for clarification.
Blazer arrives at the party with Chase, carrying a bed as a gift for Robert. Over the course of the night, the heroes party and eventually figure out that the Pulse is being kept at a heavily guarded warehouse by the docks. Although Blonde Blazer wishes to formulate a plan and attack the warehouse the next night, Invisigal insists on raiding the warehouse the same night, arguing the Pulse may be stolen by then. This angers Chase, who verbally snaps at her. This swiftly escalates into a verbal argument, ending in Invisigal punishing the old hero and storming out of the apartment. Blazer tells the gathered heroes to keep quiet about the incident and leave.
Retrospective
Following the housewarming party, Invisigal disobeyed Blond Blazer's orders and assaulted the warehouse on her own. Although she was successful in retrieving the Astral Pulse with Robert’s reluctant aid, she was ambushed by Shroud soon after, who seemingly left with the pulse. This forced Chase to use his superhuman speed to rescue her, and he fell into a coma afterward because of his accelerated aging. As punishment, Invisigal was suspended from the Z-Team until further investigation.
Blonde Blazer talks about Robert’s relationship with Chase by his bedside in the infirmary, with Robert expressing guilt over having sent Chase on store trips with superhuman speed, believing it contributed to his current condition. Blazer tells Robert to think about cutting Invisigal, citing they already had cut a hero for less, but that the final decision lay with him. Handing him a bill for the breakroom vending machine, she tells him how proud Chase said he was of him before leaving the dispatcher to weep.
While Robert is travelling to the Sardine to drink his worries away, Blazer texts him for advice on an official statement from the SDN, asking if they should praise Chase or condemn Invisigal. She later appears on the news to give a statement.
Receiving an alert that something was wrong with Robert, Blazer flew over to the Sardine to find him being tortured by Shroud and the Red Ring, including Coupé/Sonar (depending on who was cut). She successfully intimidates the gang into leaving and takes Robert to the billboard where they had their interview. There, Robert reveals that Invisigal has the Astral Pulse, which worries Blazer. Before they can continue their conversation, the pair is interrupted by a series of explosions caused by the Red Ring going off around Torrance. Before Blazer can fly off, Robert grabs her wrist and tells her she is not leaving him on the billboard again.
Personality
In the SDN office, Blonde Blazer is shown to be friendly, welcoming and encouraging towards her subordinates and co-workers, something alluded to in the reveal trailer, and made clearer in the demo.
Idealistic, she is insistent on her faith in the Phoenix Program, reluctantly admitting it being at risk of shutting down is results fail to show for it. She’s also described to have a hero complex[1], sincerely extending an offer of employment to a depressed Robert, comforting him, and saying she believes there is more he can still offer as a person. As the implied branch manager at the SDN, the staff respect her as an authority figure, with one quietly passing along a document for her to sign without interrupting her giving orientation to Robert.
Despite this, she’s shown to be capable of some thoughtlessness, committing a faux pas of trying to demonstrate the SDN’s value of diversity by using Galen as an example, failing to remember he was from Florida until he answered. She also instructs Robert to take off his clothes while distracted in finding him an SDN uniform, seemingly unaware of the suggestiveness of the line.
Appearance
Blonde Blazer is a young woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a tall and athletic physique, being slightly taller than Robert.
Outfits
Blonde Blazer's superhero outfit consists of a white, skintight bodysuit with a blue sleeveless leotard as an outer layer, navy blue elbow-length gloves and knee-high boots. She wears waist-level cape attached to a yellow collar that covers her neck and frames her shoulders, flaring slightly outwards, ending in a pointed dip in the middle of her chest, holding a slim red jewel.
She is also shown wearing a blue sleeveless swimsuit with yellow accents, similar to her superhero outfit. This swimsuit has a front cutout on her chest in the shape of a star with yellow borders. She also wears a pendant of her red jewel.

Relationships
Robert Robertson
Robert and Blonde Blazer first met shortly after he retired from superherodom following the destruction of the Mecha Man suit. During what was supposed to be Robert's interview for a dispatcher position at SDN, they immediately hit it off, so much so that Blazer dropped her professional demeanor and developed genuine romantic feelings for him, likely due to his down-to-earth personality. She was hesitant to act on her feelings, however, due to still being in a relationship with Phenomaman at the time they met. Although she would later break up with Phenomaman, she, if pressed on it, says that Robert did not play a factor in their breakup.
Only when she broke up with Phenomaman did she actively pursue Robert romantically, inviting him to dinner. If he accepts, their relationship can blossom further, though they will remain friendly towards each other if he refuses.
Blazer values Robert's insight and ability to handle the Z-Team. Blazer is comfortable with showing physical affection to him, squeezing his arm before leaving him to work. She believes that he "has a lot left to give" when meeting him during his retirement.
Chase
Blazer seems to trust Chase's advice, having accepted Robert into the SDN per his recommendation and given him her amulet (the source of her power) until they can find a way to make him healthy without.
Phenomaman
Phenomaman's ex-girlfriend. When they were together, Phenomaman considered her the only thing he was interested in and was deeply in love with her. His inability to take breaks from superheroics and Blazer's desire to be perceived as normal did ultimately make them incompatible, leading to Blazer breaking up with him. This hit Phenomaman particularly hard, causing him to fall to a deep depression and send her edible arrangements in an attempt to get back with her. Despite this, Blazer does believe Phenomaman would make a good choice to replace the cut hero in the Z-Team.
If accepted into the Z-Team, Phenomaman seemed to have gotten over his breakup with Blonde Blazer, though he still looks saddened if Robert and Blazer kiss, suggesting there are still some lingering feelings.
Trivia
- Her login passphrase for the SDN phone number is 'Birthday is August 11th.'
- In an early version of Episode 8, Blonde Blazer has a Synergy with Phenomaman if she joins in the 3rd shift, replacing Punch Up/Malevola if Phenomaman was chosen in Episode 4. This was later patched out, possibly cause they didn't have a max synergy art.
